Twitter on Paper – Congratulations!

Our thanks go out to Twitter’s co-founder, Ev Williams, and his designer, Gerardo Obieta, who together have increased our knowledge of his remarkable brainchild.

In “Chirp”, the Twitter developer conference, the statistics presented here turned many heads.  This graphic tells the story even more completely. (You may enlarge the image by clicking on it.)

Imagine over 105 million users in Twitter’s brief history, climbing at the rate of 300,000 per day.  All this being done by 175 employees.  This is a tremendous testimony to what is possible with a high productivity ratio, (an important concept we reported on in a previous article).

And for those of our friends who make their living developing apps for phones, how nice that 37% of the Twitter updates are done from mobile devices.

I am excited at the prospect of watching Ev Williams and his small group of dedicated employees as they monetize Twitter.  They deserve every bit of fame and fortune they achieve.
