Attention Entrepreneurs – Why and How You Should Use Social Media
On March 3, 2011, the SmartBlog on Social Media expressed the view that “entrepreneurs dread Social Media.”
This assertion, taken from a poll of 258 of their readers is illuminating, but also points out an important opportunity for serious entrepreneurs to capitalize on the Social Media juggernaut.
RESULTS OF THE STUDY
Of all the business functions an entrepreneur must face, the survey concluded that Social Media is the one function most likely to be outsourced. Specifically, the study posed the following question:
“If you had an unlimited budget, which function of your business would you most like to outsource?”
The respondents listed the functions they would like to outsource, as follows:
- Social media — 28.57%
- Other — 25.11%
- Public relations — 19.91%
- Sales — 16.45%
- Customer service — 9.96%
A variety of experts weighed in on the possible reasons for this outcome, which can be summarized as follows:
- It was not considered important enough to rob the entrepreneur of his time, at least not at this point in Social Media history.
- There is significant confusion on the part of the entrepreneur as how to best energize around Social Media.
- There is uncertainty on how to structure their Social Media strategy, and how to measure results.
- Many entrepreneurs believe they lack the Social Media skill to execute a complicated and time-consuming plan.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Our experience with entrepreneurs would seem to validate these results, and it is safe to extrapolate this study in the broader context of all small to medium-sized businesses, both within the USA and around the world. After all, the typical business owner is swamped with a myriad of pressing concerns: Sales objectives to meet, payrolls to cover, profitability to achieve, competition to surmount and general economic uncertainty to deal with.
On the other hand, it is also increasingly clear that businesses that ignore the Social Media opportunity do so at their peril. One particularly compelling statement from a presentation we distributed to our 32,000 Twitter followers yesterday, is that “The ROI of Social Media is your business will still exist in 5 years.”
WHAT CAN THE ENTREPRENEUR DO TO SOLVE THIS DILEMMA?
In a word, outsource.
Can this be done with safety and minimal expense? Yes. By outsourcing this function, is there a risk that the business will become permanently dependent upon outside resources? No.
As explained in another posting on this blog, Jericho Technology has spent nearly a full year testing, analyzing and strategizing the tools, techniques and pricing to make Social Media available and affordable for businesses of any size.
HOW DOES THIS WORK FOR YOUR BUSINESS
At the beginning, Jericho Technology will strategize, execute and manage your entire Social Media campaign with minimum input from you. We will draft a carefully prepared Social Media plan, analyze your market and competition, reconfigure your website if necessary to enable Social Media, build your presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Youtube, grow your Twitter following with targeted and engaged followers, Tweet daily to them, and monitor your success. In short, we will do for you exactly what we did for ourselves, as we grew our 32,000 member Twitter account in slightly less than a year. In addition, we will carefully groom you or your staff to take over the Social Media reins when the time is right.
Our introductory pricing of $499 per month is a small fraction of what it would cost to bring Social Media inside your company, and will form the basis of a very attractive Return on Investment. And of course, our work is guaranteed.
We are limiting our initial client engagements to ten companies (there are 5 slots remaining), so if you would like to hear more about how we can help you to prosper your business, simply email us by clicking here.
